“Improved” how? No before, no after, no way to measure it. Tell us what changed and this line becomes your home run.
The Undersold Score
Every bullet gets a reason.
See yours, free.
Upload your resume and every bullet gets scored out of 10 against Undersold's ten-criterion recruiter-oriented rubric, with the failing word quoted back at you. It costs nothing and shows exactly how the rubric reached its result.

Undersold's recruiter-oriented rubric applied to every bullet
the same ten criteria apply before and after
every score comes with the reason under it
Watch it happen
What one bullet's score actually looks like.
Illustrative fictional example: a number, the reason, and the question that would raise it by Undersold's rubric.
Responsible for improving database performance across teams.
2 out of 10. 'Responsible for' hides whether you did it. 'Improving' has no before or after. 'Across teams' is scope with no size.
Which database, what got faster, by how much, and how did you measure it?
Answer that question in the discovery interview and this line gets rebuilt from your answer, then re-scored by the same rubric. The delta shows what changed by that standard.
What this does for you
Built around the work you actually did.
Undersold does not invent a better version of your career. It finds the evidence already inside it and helps you use that evidence clearly.
What gets scored
Ten questions about what a recruiter needs to see.
Every bullet is judged on Undersold's recruiter-oriented rubric: Can I tell what you personally did? Did anything measurably change? Would a non-technical reader understand it? Could you talk about this line for two minutes? Ten criteria, answered yes or no, then scored by code. An exact repeat under the same rubric version reuses the first score.
- Ownership: does the line say what YOU did, or what the team did?
- Proof: is there a change, a number, and how it was measured?
- Readability: does a non-technical recruiter understand every word?
Why it reads harsh
Your first score is not built to flatter you.
Resume checkers often reward formatting and keyword counts. We ask a different question: does each line show clear ownership, a concrete outcome, and proof you can defend? The same ten criteria apply before and after, and every score shows its reason.
- The same rubric applies before and after, so you can see what changed by that standard
- Repeat uploads of the same resume get the same score, by construction
- After your first build, the score we display is held at your best result so far and will not drop below it
- Every low score comes with the exact question the line cannot answer
What happens next
The score is the diagnosis. The interview is the cure.
A low score does not necessarily mean weak experience. It can mean the proof never made it onto the page, and no rewording tool can add facts that are not there. After the reveal, Undersold asks for the missing evidence and rebuilds your resume from what you can actually defend.
- See your weakest bullet and the question that would fix it
- Bank the wins you never wrote down
- Rebuild the resume, then your LinkedIn and interview prep, from proof
Fair questions
About that other resume checker.
You have probably seen a resume score before. Here is why this one disagrees with it.
Another tool gave my resume a 92.
Ask what the 92 measures. Some checkers emphasize formatting, keyword counts, and section order. We grade whether each line shows ownership, outcomes, evidence, and readability. Different rubric, different number.
A harsh score is just a scare tactic to sell me something.
The score comes with its work shown: every criterion, every failing word, every question your line cannot answer. If the reasons are wrong for your resume, close the tab having paid nothing. The score only converts if the diagnosis rings true.
What do you do with my resume after I upload it?
We store your resume privately to run your workspace. Before career content is sent to the AI provider we strip contact details and internal account identifiers, and we remove your name wherever we can identify it. A resume that hides its name in an unusual place, or an unusual career history, can still be recognizable. A separate de-identified improvement copy is created only when you choose the unchecked opt-in. We do not sell your data.
Where this comes from
A method from real resume teardowns, not a prompt.
Undersold is an interview a career mentor has been running with real job seekers for years: score the resume honestly, refuse anything that cannot be defended, and pull the real wins out of the person sitting across from you. We turned that interview into software without softening its rules.
- Built from a repeatable resume-teardown and mentoring method, not scraped resume templates
- Nothing renders unless you said it and confirmed it; numbers you cannot defend never make the page
- The same evidence drives your resume, LinkedIn, and interview answers, so your story holds up in the room
- The score applies the same ten checks to every bullet and shows the reason behind each result
